We recently celebrated a lit'a boy's birthday (actually, he's 30) at the lovely Zilker park and I wanted to put a little festive spin on your average fruit kabobs! I made the skewers the day before and did my skewin' the day of the fiesta. Lets get started...

Make it:

You will need the following supplies listed above ..including your favorite fruit, of course! :)

- Using food coloring you will need to follow the instructions on the package to create the color of your choice...Just like dying Easter eggs!
- Let the skewers steep in the colored liquid for about 3-4 hours. *They will float, so use a cup or flatware to hold the skewers down.
- Remove from liquid (be careful, the dye can stain your fingers!) and allow to dry.
- Wrap a piece of WASHI TAPE around the top of the skewer with about 1.5" on each side and stick them together. This secures our flags in place.
- Cut triangles to achieve a fun flag shape...and wahlah!

**Washi tape side note: I am in love with this stuff! I keep trying to think of cool ways to use it. They have tons of different colors and patterns at the craft store...it's so fun!!

I love the way these festive skewers brighten up a simple/easy party snack. Thanks for reading and I hope you guys are enjoying your summer as much as I am:)

Etsy: Loveknot post earrings $24 7. Sherwin Williams: Interior Paint Aloe 6464 8. H&M: Ankle length pants $24.95
Spring time is officially upon us! I'm slowly trying to shop around in preparation for my warm weather wardrobe and I think it's safe to admit, we all love the mint trend. I have made a rule that mint can veer into the blues or greens...there's not just one version of this tasty shade.

Lets start with our fingers: Essie has an awesome reputation for great color combinations and I've found myself picking up a bottle every time I'm wandering around Target. This color is a great spring/summer pop of color for those paws.

The interior designer in me is dying to mention #7....Sherwin Williams announced their 2013 "Color of the Year" and lets all pause and notice...its pretty minty!! It's subtle yet energizing and I'm tempted to grab a gallon of this heavenly stuff for my new apartment. It's a cool calming color that I could see in a bedroom or accent wall in a living room. Yum.

Whether you are going for a casual stroll down Congress or dressing up for that client meeting, I love adding a hint of mint to my wardrobe. Although, if you catch me trying to wear all of these items at the same time call the fashion police!

Side note: Barton Springs swimming hole opens THIS Saturday, March 30th! Finally!
Barton Spring's Pool...Austin's best place to cool off this summer!

I hope you all have a happy and wonderful Easter weekend!
